How much does a website cost in India?
What a website costs in India: DIY builder, freelancer or agency, what moves the price, how long each type takes and what it costs to run.
DIY builder, freelancer or agency?
You can buy a website three ways. A DIY builder costs least in cash, since you pay a subscription and your team builds the site. A freelancer is one person who carries design, build and SEO. An agency gives you design, build, SEO and tracking from one team, with a project lead.
A DIY website builder gives you templates and an editor for a monthly or yearly subscription. It suits a small business that needs a few pages, has someone with time to build them and can live with what the templates allow. Your team’s time is part of the price, because someone has to write the pages, set up the forms and keep the site up to date.
Hiring a freelancer suits a contained job, such as a landing page or a small brochure site, when you already know what you want. The result depends on their skill at design, build and SEO, and on their time.
An agency gives you design, build, SEO and tracking from one team, with a project lead who runs the schedule and is your single contact. It suits a site that has to bring in leads or sales, connects to your CRM or takes payments, or replaces an older site whose search rankings you want to keep.
What are you paying for?
We build websites at three levels: a landing page, a marketing website, and e-commerce or web apps. Each is quoted at a fixed fee after a discovery call. Half is invoiced when you accept the proposal and the balance on delivery. Anything outside the agreed scope is a change request, quoted before work starts.
A landing page covers conversion-led copy and layout, responsive design and build, forms, CRM and tracking, and A/B test set-up.
A marketing website covers the sitemap and wireframes, custom UI design, a Webflow or Next.js build, and SEO migration and launch.
E-commerce and web apps cover UX research and prototyping, a Shopify or custom build, payments, inventory and CRM, and performance and security QA.
We recommend the platform during discovery: Next.js for custom builds and web apps, Webflow when your team wants to edit the site freely, and Shopify for e-commerce.
Your code repository and CMS accounts are set up in your name, so the site stays yours. Invoices are due within 15 days, and our fees exclude GST. Third-party costs, such as fonts, stock media, plugins and software, are billed at cost or paid by you directly.
What makes a website cost more or less?
Scope sets the price more than page count does. Each extra page template, integration or language adds design, build and testing time, and a custom build takes longer than a Webflow or Shopify set-up. Writing or migrating your content and redirecting an old site’s URLs add work too. A few templates with content you supply sit at the low end.
| Driver | Lower cost | Higher cost |
|---|---|---|
| Page templates | A few templates, such as a home page, a service page and a contact page. | Many templates, such as product, category, case study and article pages, each designed and built separately. |
| Platform | A Webflow or Shopify set-up. | A custom Next.js build, for a site or web app that needs features a platform can’t give you. |
| Integrations | Forms that send enquiries to your CRM. | Payments, inventory and booking, each connected to the systems you already use. |
| Content | You supply the copy and images, ready to place. | We write the copy, or migrate pages and posts from your old site. |
| SEO migration | A new site with no rankings to protect. | A relaunch, with every old URL mapped to a redirect and the metadata and structured data carried over. |
| Languages | One language. | Several languages, each with its own copy, layout checks and testing. |
A page template is a layout reused across pages. Ten service pages built from one template take less work than ten pages each designed from scratch.
How long does each type of website take?
A landing page takes two to three weeks, a marketing website six to ten, and an e-commerce site or web app ten to sixteen. If your content, feedback or sign-off arrives late, the timeline moves by the same amount, so a week’s wait for copy adds a week at the end.
A marketing website starts with the sitemap and wireframes, then moves to custom UI design, the build, and SEO migration and launch. An e-commerce site or web app adds UX research and prototyping at the start, and performance and security QA before launch.
The schedule assumes that copy, images, product data and account access arrive when planned, and that one person on your side can sign off each round of feedback. Gather what you can before the project starts.
What does a website cost to run after launch?
After launch you pay for a domain and hosting, both set up in your name and paid to the providers directly. Third-party subscriptions, such as plugins or Shopify apps, are billed at cost. A care plan is optional, at ₹8,000–₹30,000 a month, and covers updates, security, uptime monitoring and ongoing conversion testing.
Domain and hosting prices depend on the provider and plan you choose, so ask for them alongside any quote.
If you don’t want a care plan, we hand the site over fully to your team.
Count third-party subscriptions before you compare quotes. A Shopify store may need paid apps, and a Webflow or plugin-based site may need paid add-ons. Ask every supplier which of these their price includes and which you pay each month.
What does a typical website cost?
In India, a landing page costs ₹40,000–₹1,00,000, a marketing website ₹1,50,000–₹5,00,000, and an e-commerce site or web app ₹3,00,000–₹12,00,000. These are fixed fees, excluding GST. Domain, hosting, third-party subscriptions and an optional care plan come on top. We fix your price after the discovery call.
